pre7 on PC164LX

Did anybody get a kernel between 2.1.131 and pre7 to work on
a PC 164 LX RH 5.2? 

The recent pre kernels do not boot, compiled with
egcs 1.1.1. Milo says "jumping into the linux kernel" and thats it,
no line of output from the kernel.
