Re: [freenet-chat] RE: email to web keyserver...
A couple more constructive suggestions:
* the 'start of index', 'end of index', 'more', 'back' links are wonderful.
However, IMO, they could be a little misleading - you are using the word
'more' to mean earlier entries, and the word 'back' to mean later entries.
It would be more intuitive if the concept was of moving from earlier to
later, not the other way around. How would you feel about changing these
links to 'earlier' and 'later', and swapping 'start of index' and 'end of
index'. This feels more apt, because the index as you've got it is
structured chronologically in order of submission.
* add a feature - if the word 'anon' appears on a line by itself, then don't
make the email message viewable from the 'batch number' link - instead,
point the batch link to a page saying "these links were submitted
anonymously".
* I note you're planning to go open-source at some stage. Once the
look-n-feel settles down, how would you feel about implementing a 'freenet
keyindex web ring'? Don't worry about the programming involved - I believe
that there are plenty of remotely-hosted web ring services. When the time's
right, you can get a web ring up in 10 minutes - I know I'd like to join.
Penultimately, would you have a problem if I write a search engine script
which 'leeches' your listings?
Lastly, I notice that there are some gaps in the batch numbers. Are these
links that you've 'pulled', or incorrect submissions, or links that don't
work? Please don't take this as a challenge - I'm just curious, that's all.
What you're doing with this keyindex, Mike, is certainly a strategic
building block in Freenet.
Keep up the brilliant work
Cheers
David
