Oh boy, you're so dumb. The chicken population would disappear overnight if
people would suddenly cease to want to eat them. There are huge forests planted
for the sole purpose of being cut down - for a profit. The owner of the forest
wants to make a profit next year, too, so he replants them. Without the profit
motive (let's say it's no longer legal to sell trees), the owner would cut all
of them and start grow something else (profitable) instead.

Good. I'm not against this. [I was just asking whether this would be more
satisfactorily from an ecological POV, whatever that is.]
