Ahh! The wish that is still being wished after all these years!

I believe CSS is on the way to solving this. In CSS, you can define DIV
elements, and associate sources with them, through JS. You can also define
SPAN elements for inline, but Communicator4.0 does not let you change the
attributes of SPAN elements after the page has loaded. (IE does, though I
haven't tested chaning the SRC).

I haven't been reading the newsgroups fully (awaiting the FAQ!!) but I
suspect Netscape is on the way towards full CSS-compliance, and then some.
