Jason

I am afraid I have no further data on the little fans as yet, I also
originally bought the fans to build up a little A-10 (aka: Piglet) but
have
not got to the project as yet. I liked the way the origional Elipstick
flew
so well that I have built three different versions (70, 80, and 100
percent
versions). When I received the fans I bounced the measurement off a
set of
drawings I used on my 22 pound A-10 (May the tron gods forgive me but
I have
been in ducted fans/turbines and empty pockets for over twenty years)
and
the figures were not too good. To keep the nacelles in scale, the
aircraft
came in at about 18 inches by 18 inches (span and length). A little to
small
for indoor work and keep it nuts on scale. I had originally drawn up a
profile 28 inch span version but will have to replace the foam
nacelles to
keep everything looking right. Maybe I will be getting into the Piglet
during the Christmas Holidays, we'll see.

The little fans work very well but true to their nature they do draw a
lot
of current. I believe that Todd Long is working with one on a Delta
Star and
may have additional performance data.

By the way, I test flew a 36 gram all balsa r/c aircraft last evening.
I
built it Sunday while watching the Hornblower mini-series (maybe thats
why I
had all the extra cable and rigging hanging from the thing). Took
about 5
hours to build and fit out. It is true freeflight interrupted by
remote
control as I was given a Ceto that had never been used by a friend.
The bird
was trimmed to fly left and bumping the button give me right rudder.
Figure
eights and other maneuvers were just fine and it was fun just watching
it
fly slowly overhead in the setting sun. Managed to land in a 50 foot
radius
of myself so I guess it did ok. Radio was a Ceto, aircraft powered by
a
KP-00/geardrive (3 inch prop) on 3/45 mah nicads. Aircraft was all
balsa
based off of the Thistle freeflight design. I build a little heavy but
it
flew very well after I cut all the blasted rigging away especially the
No 1
Genoa and topgallent.

I just picked two of these us units up which I ordered after seeing
them on
the XB-29 from Cox. I planned to make a small EDF slowflyer....like
an A-10,
Learjet or DC-9. But since you beat me to it =0), I was wondering
what other

Hi Ed,
Can you give a source for the 45mah ni-cds you used in your Ceto
controlled model? Are they capable of fast charging? Thanks Dave
